Getting care in Henderson

Nevada’s second-largest city, a master-planned suburb southeast of Las Vegas with large retirement and family neighborhoods.

Henderson has three hospitals with emergency rooms and plenty of specialists, but a routine primary care or mental health appointment can still take weeks, and Clark County as a whole is a federally designated mental health shortage area. A video visit with Wade’s Care First lets you handle the predictable parts of care from home: medication refills and adjustments, blood pressure and diabetes follow-up, ADHD and anxiety treatment, weight management, rashes and other skin concerns, and sleep problems.

Visits are scheduled around your day rather than a clinic’s, which matters if you commute to a resort job or care for an older parent. The practice is telehealth only, with no Henderson office; labs, imaging and prescriptions are routed to places near you.

Access in Clark County

Henderson shares Clark County’s supply: most of Nevada’s physicians practice in the county, but the county is entirely within a mental health HPSA and low-income primary care designations reflect limited Medicaid acceptance. Nevada’s 2025 UNR Med physician workforce report finds the state would need 2,303 more physicians to reach the national per-capita average, including 251 family medicine doctors, 411 pediatricians and 105 psychiatrists; in 35 of 37 AMA specialty areas Nevada is below the national rate, and psychiatrists number 8.7 per 100,000 versus 12.2 nationally.

UNR Med reporting has placed Nevada 45th among states for active physicians and 48th for primary care physicians per capita. About 64.9 percent of Nevadans live in a federally designated primary care HPSA and 91.3 percent live in a mental health HPSA (15 of 17 counties are single-county mental health HPSAs). The state Primary Care Office notes all 17 counties carry some shortage designation; in cities a key driver is that many providers do not accept Medicaid, and in rural and frontier areas travel time to a provider can be several hours. Nevada’s uninsured rate was 11.4 percent in 2024 (47th of 50 states; US 8.2 percent).

Who this helps most in Henderson

This works best for Henderson adults juggling resort or hospital shifts, retirees who want steady management of blood pressure, cholesterol, thyroid or sleep without repeated drives, parents needing a quick pediatric visit for a child five or older, and anyone whose established doctor is booked out. If you are uninsured, you get the price before the visit. Some things cannot be done over video. For chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe abdominal pain, head injury or a child who is hard to wake, go to the 24-hour ER at St. Rose Siena, Henderson Hospital or Rose de Lima, or the freestanding ER at Green Valley Ranch. For sliding-fee care in person, the Southern Nevada Health District’s community health center in Las Vegas sees patients regardless of insurance.

Local health considerations

  • Extreme heat: Henderson shares the Las Vegas Valley’s summer heat; NWS Las Vegas HeatRisk forecasts and the Southern Nevada Health District’s heat-illness program apply here. Older adults and people on diuretics or psychiatric medications are at higher risk.
  • Hospitality shift work: about a quarter of Las Vegas-metro jobs are in leisure and hospitality (302,500 of 1,184,600 in August 2026), and many Henderson residents commute to Strip and resort jobs with night or rotating schedules that disrupt sleep and Routine Care.
  • Coverage: Nevada’s 11.4 percent uninsured rate (2024) ranks 47th nationally.
