Orders go local

Labs, imaging and pharmacies near Mayfield.

Contact Jackson Purchase Medical Center about local laboratory and imaging services and the requirements for your order. If your insurance specifies Labcorp or Quest, use that laboratory’s current locator to choose a collection location and confirm services and coverage before traveling.

Imaging, including 3D mammography, is scheduled at Jackson Purchase or at one of the Paducah hospitals if you are already driving up. Prescriptions go electronically to the pharmacy you name; Walgreens has a Mayfield store, and KentuckyCare on Kings Drive has its own pharmacy. Ask about 90-day refills to save trips.

Blood work

Jackson Purchase Medical Center provides local laboratory services. For Labcorp or Quest collection locations, use the official laboratory locator and confirm the requested test, order acceptance and insurance. A directory listing alone does not establish the closest suitable site for every patient.

Imaging

Jackson Purchase Medical Center, 1099 Medical Center Cir (digital imaging and 3D mammography); hospital imaging at Baptist Health Paducah and Mercy Health, Lourdes in Paducah.

Pharmacies

Walgreens lists a Mayfield store in its Kentucky store directory, and KentuckyCare runs a pharmacy at 110 Kings Dr.

Before you go, confirm the requested test, outside-order acceptance, insurance, collection fees and hours with the facility. These resources are examples, not a complete directory. Quest Location Finder · Labcorp Location Finder.

Where will I go for blood work if I live in Mayfield?

Jackson Purchase Medical Center provides local laboratory services. For Labcorp or Quest collection locations, use the official laboratory locator and confirm the requested test, order acceptance and insurance. A directory listing alone does not establish the closest suitable site for every patient. We send the order electronically to a location that is convenient for you or in your insurance network. Results come back to us for review with you.

Which Mayfield hospitals have an emergency department?

Jackson Purchase Medical Center (1099 Medical Center Cir; 107 beds; 24-hour emergency care; the only acute-care hospital in Graves County; LifePoint Health) and Baptist Health Paducah (2501 Kentucky Ave, Paducah) and Mercy Health, Lourdes Hospital (1530 Lone Oak Rd, Paducah), additional regional hospitals. For chest pain, trouble breathing, stroke symptoms, severe bleeding, a major injury or thoughts of harming yourself, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department rather than booking a video visit.

Are there community health centers in Mayfield for in-person care?

KentuckyCare (ARcare health network; Mayfield Medical, 110 Kings Dr, with an on-site pharmacy and a behavioral health counselor) serve the area with in-person primary care on a sliding scale. Plans accepted in Kentucky: BCBS / Anthem PPO, UnitedHealthcare PPO, UMR (PPO), Aetna PPO, Cigna PPO, Humana PPO, Ambetter PPO, TRICARE. When clinically appropriate, we can send orders to a laboratory or imaging facility you choose. Confirm that the location performs the requested test, accepts the order and participates in your insurance network. Availability and travel distance vary by community.

Good to know

Services, screening recommendations, testing, treatment options, referrals and prescribing may vary with your age, medical history, symptoms, where you are physically located at the time of the visit, state and federal requirements, insurance requirements, and whether your condition can be safely managed by telehealth. Conditions and services listed here are examples. An appointment does not guarantee a particular diagnosis, a prescription, a controlled medication, hormone therapy, a lab order, an imaging study, a sleep study, a specialist referral, an accommodation letter or a particular treatment. Treatment decisions follow a clinical evaluation and the provider’s judgment.

Getting care in Mayfield

Graves County seat in the Jackson Purchase of far western Kentucky, still rebuilding after the December 10, 2021 tornado destroyed much of downtown.

Mayfield has one hospital, Jackson Purchase Medical Center on Medical Center Circle, with a 24-hour emergency department. For specialists, most residents drive about 25 miles north to Baptist Health Paducah or Mercy Health Lourdes. The federal government has counted Graves County as medically underserved since 1978, and in 2025 HRSA scored its mental health shortage at 19, one of the higher scores in western Kentucky.

The December 2021 tornado that flattened much of downtown added years of stress, rebuilding and displacement. KentuckyCare on Kings Drive is the sliding-fee clinic in town. A video visit with Wade’s Care First brings primary care, anxiety, depression and ADHD treatment to your kitchen table, with labs and prescriptions sent to Mayfield or Paducah.

Access in Graves County

HRSA designates Graves County a high-needs geographic primary care HPSA (score 16) and a high-needs geographic mental health HPSA (score 19, designated Oct. 2025), and the whole county has been a Medically Underserved Area since 1978. The December 10, 2021 EF4 tornado killed 24 people in Graves County, destroyed much of downtown Mayfield and the county EMS headquarters; Jackson Purchase Medical Center ran on generators and treated about 240 patients in four days (AHA case study; Louisville Public Media).

There is no fixed-route bus; the Fulton County Transit Authority provides demand-response rides in Graves County, booked by 3 p.m. the business day before. CDC PLACES estimates 9.4% of Graves County adults lacked reliable transportation in the past year.

Who this helps most in Mayfield

Graves County’s health numbers track rural western Kentucky. CDC PLACES estimates 14.7 percent of adults have diabetes, 40.5 percent have obesity and 42.7 percent have high blood pressure, and about one adult in eleven lacked reliable transportation in the past year. Telehealth fits farm families and poultry-plant workers who cannot lose half a day to a Paducah appointment, older adults managing blood pressure and diabetes, and anyone still carrying the anxiety, grief or sleep problems that followed the 2021 tornado. Spanish-speaking families can pair video follow-ups with in-person care at KentuckyCare. Go in person for chest pain, stroke symptoms, serious injury or breathing trouble; call 911 or go to Jackson Purchase Medical Center.

Local health considerations

  • Chronic disease: CDC PLACES (2024 release; 2021–2022 survey data; crude modeled estimates) estimates Graves County adult diabetes at 14.7%, obesity 40.5% and high blood pressure 42.7%.
  • Shortage: countywide high-needs primary care and mental health HPSAs; Medically Underserved Area since 1978 (HRSA).
  • Disaster recovery: the Dec. 10, 2021 tornado destroyed much of downtown Mayfield.
  • Lab access: contact Jackson Purchase Medical Center about local testing, or use the laboratory locators to select a suitable collection location.
