All Patient Questions
Does Wade’s Care First have an office in Mesa?

No. Wade’s Care First is a telehealth practice. You join your visit by secure video from home, work or anywhere in Arizona, and Charles Wade, FNP-BC is licensed to treat you while you are in the state. Anything that needs hands-on care is coordinated with facilities in and around Mesa, such as Banner Desert Medical Center (ADHS Level I trauma center; also Banner Children’s at Desert), Banner Baywood Medical Center (ADHS Level III) and HonorHealth Four Peaks Medical Center, formerly Mountain Vista Medical Center (ADHS Level III; 1301 S. Crismon Rd).

Where will I go for blood work if I live in Mesa?

Sonora Quest Laboratories lists multiple Mesa patient service centers (ZIP codes 85209, 85204, 85205 and an appointment-only site inside a Safeway in 85202) in its February 2026 directory. Labcorp lists Mesa locations on S. Greenfield Rd and E. Brown Rd. Hospital outpatient labs at Banner facilities. We send the order electronically to a location that is convenient for you or in your insurance network. Results come back to us for review with you.

Which Mesa hospitals have an emergency department?

Banner Desert Medical Center (ADHS Level I trauma center; also Banner Children’s at Desert), Banner Baywood Medical Center (ADHS Level III) and HonorHealth Four Peaks Medical Center, formerly Mountain Vista Medical Center (ADHS Level III; 1301 S. Crismon Rd). For chest pain, trouble breathing, stroke symptoms, severe bleeding, a major injury or thoughts of harming yourself, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department rather than booking a video visit.

Are there community health centers in Mesa for in-person care?

Adelante Healthcare Mesa (1705 W. Main St; HRSA-funded health center with Federal PHS deemed status), Valleywise Community Health Center – Mesa (950 E. Main St; Maricopa County Special Health Care District) and Wesley Health Center – Recker Road, Terros Stapley Integrated Care, Valle del Sol Mesa (HRSA-funded sites) serve the area with in-person primary care on a sliding scale. Many patients pair that kind of local clinic with telehealth for follow-ups, medication management and specialist coordination.

Can I use Arizona Medicaid or other insurance for a telehealth visit from Mesa?

Arizona Medicaid plans are not on the participating list right now. Plans accepted in Arizona: BCBS / Anthem PPO, UnitedHealthcare PPO, UMR (PPO), Aetna PPO, Cigna PPO, Humana PPO, Ambetter PPO, TRICARE. Benefits are verified before your visit, and self-pay pricing is posted if your plan is not accepted.

Is Mesa a health professional shortage area?

Mesa lies within Maricopa County, which has numerous HRSA primary care and mental health HPSAs (PCP FTE shortage 225.6; psychiatrist FTE shortage 40.5). Arizona Center for Rural Health (Dec. 2024): Arizona has primary care physician shortages in all 15 counties, meets 35.4% of its primary care need and needs 493 more PCP FTEs; its mental health brief (2023) finds psychiatrist shortages in every county and just 8.54% of mental health need met. Telehealth can complement local clinicians by offering another way to access primary care, mental health and medication follow-up while you keep your local relationships.

Can orders be sent to a laboratory or imaging facility near me?

When clinically appropriate, we can send orders to a laboratory or imaging facility you choose. Confirm that the location performs the requested test, accepts the order and participates in your insurance network. Availability and travel distance vary by community.

Good to know

Services, screening recommendations, testing, treatment options, referrals and prescribing may vary with your age, medical history, symptoms, where you are physically located at the time of the visit, state and federal requirements, insurance requirements, and whether your condition can be safely managed by telehealth. Conditions and services listed here are examples. An appointment does not guarantee a particular diagnosis, a prescription, a controlled medication, hormone therapy, a lab order, an imaging study, a sleep study, a specialist referral, an accommodation letter or a particular treatment. Treatment decisions follow a clinical evaluation and the provider’s judgment.

Getting care in Mesa

Arizona’s third-largest city by Census estimate, a sprawling East Valley community with large retiree and seasonal populations.

Mesa is bigger than many state capitals, and its clinics fill up the same way the rest of Maricopa County’s do; the county remains short about 226 primary care physicians by federal count. If you live in east Mesa, Red Mountain or near the Superstition Springs area, the nearest available primary care opening may be a long drive in traffic. A video visit with Wade’s Care First brings primary care, mental health, ADHD treatment, weight management and minor urgent care to your phone or laptop.

Mesa is well supplied for in-person needs when they arise: Banner Desert is a Level I trauma center, Banner Baywood serves the east side, and the former Mountain Vista hospital now runs as HonorHealth Four Peaks Medical Center.

Access in Maricopa County

Mesa shares Maricopa County’s shortage: the county needs 225.6 more primary care physician FTEs and 40.5 psychiatrist FTEs to clear its HRSA designations. Heat is the dominant local hazard, with 430 county heat-related deaths in 2025 and 608 in 2024. Arizona’s uninsured rate was 10.3% in 2024, and 9.3% of Arizona children were uninsured, second-highest nationally.

Who this helps most in Mesa

Telehealth is a practical option for Mesa residents who are retired and no longer want to drive in summer, parents juggling school schedules, people living in RV or mobile-home communities, and workers whose hours do not match clinic hours. It is a good fit for medication management, mood and anxiety care, ADHD, skin problems, sleep concerns and routine follow-up of diabetes or blood pressure. It is not for emergencies.

Chest pain, stroke symptoms, serious injury, breathing trouble or heat collapse should go to 911 or the nearest emergency department. Indoor heat deaths in this county fall hardest on people over 50 living alone, so if your air conditioning fails during a heat warning, treat that as urgent.

Local health considerations

  • Extreme heat: Maricopa County identified 430 heat-related deaths in 2025; about 23% of indoor heat deaths occurred in an RV, trailer or mobile home, and 90% of indoor deaths were among people 50 and older (Maricopa County 2025 Heat Report).
  • Valley fever: Arizona is an area where the fungus that causes Valley fever occurs. Persistent cough, fatigue or other concerning symptoms may need assessment and testing; symptoms alone cannot confirm the infection.
  • Hospital name change: Mountain Vista Medical Center now operates as HonorHealth Four Peaks Medical Center (ADHS trauma list, Dec. 2025; HonorHealth campus map).
